Singapore 2-0 Indonesia

It was all hands to the pump for a while, but in the end dogged defending won through against a determined Indonesia. Raddy Avramovic's gameplan worked like a dream, two early sucker punches from Baihakki Khaizan & Shi Jiayi respectively in each half rendering Indonesian dominance useless and shredding their confidence.

The Lions do need to be careful, as this soak & strike strategy can easily come undone against a more clinical team. Thailand & Co await in the semis.

Singapore 2-0 Lebanon

And so Raddy's Lions get points on the board with a comfortable 2-0 home win over Lebanon, though it should've been more. Such profligacy in front of goal will be ruthless punished by the Uzbeks and Saudis and Indra and company really need to buck up.
------------
So early on in the campaign, and it's already make or break for the Lions. After an expected 2-0 loss to Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, Singapore must win its games against Lebanon to have any hope of progressing, home and away. We must then scrap for points against the higher-ranked Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan at Kallang and hope for an upset somewhere in Beirut. If anyone can do it, Raddy Avramovic can.

Sad, sad England

And so England are out of Euro 2008 before it's even started. What strikes me is how apathetic I am towards their fate, despite being an England fan. Mostly it's due to the fact that don't deserve to be there based on their capitulations in the matches that mattered.

And so I now begin the unenviable task of finding an alternative team next year.

On another note, why not Raddy Avramovic for England manager?
