What does God require when we come before Him?

A humble spirit, a contrite heart, and no unresolved emotions. There's probably more, but for my purposes this will suffice.

God does not require self-mutilation, a crawl to China on your knees, ot other sacrifices to prove worthy of His love. If all of us went crawling to China, wouldn't the church be in trouble! "Brother So-and-so is now at Laos, but realises he can't cross the Mekong on his knees. He's returning next month."

He certainly isn't sadistic, and His grace is sufficient forus.

Jesus has already spilt His blood to redeem us. By metaphorically cutting ourselves, what we're saying is that CHrist dying isn't good enough for us.
